Kaitlyn Reagan

Dear Diary

last updated: Aug 02, 2010
I have LOVED keeping up Kaitlyn's site over the past 5+ years.  My goal was to always get to 5 years, the typical baby book and I've done that.

There has come a time though where it no longer makes sense to keep updating it.  I will be doing all of Kaitlyn's updates on our "family" blog which can be found at:  http://thismommasjourney.blogspot.com/

This site will always be up and available, but it is just too much to keep up :)

Holy Moly it's been a while since an update!

Things have been so incredibly busy, but great.  Kaitlyn is growing so fast and reading so good!!  She's become so good and sounding out words with mutliple syllables and loves to read.  She's couting to 300, and is so incredibly helpful!

Kaitlyn is out all week, so look for more details and a lot more pictures :)

What a busy week it's been!!

Kaitlyn has been doing ok.  She's doing so good at school, she picked up a book yesterday that she hadn't read before with a ton of multi-sylabl words and read the whole book without too much sounding out.  I was so impressed.

We've had the opportunity to have some play dates, which has been great.  Kaitlyn loves Chick Fil A and we've been to Chuck E Cheese this past week.  Of course, at Chuck E Cheese, she'd much rather have her picture taken than play any games.  She's a silly girl!

Kaitlyn headed back to the doctor yesterday.  She's been having a lot more headaches and they are getting worse so he doctor decided to put her on some prevention medicine.  She's also getting a referral to see a pediatric neurologist who specializes in headaches, just to be sure all is well.

Kaitlyn is really enjoying girl scouts!  She is selling cookies right now, so be sure to let us know how many boxes you want ;)  She went with me yesterday to the girl scout store and got to pick up some new patches.  She was so excited.  She loves that place.

There really isn't much else going on here :)

Happy New Year!!!

Sorry it has been so long since an update, things have been insane!

We had a wonderful Christmas!  The night before Christmas Eve Kaitlyn and I did a lot of baking.  We made fudge, peppermint bark, cupcakes, cookies, and more cookies.  Kaitlyn's favorite part was being the taste tester, and I can't say that I blame her!  On Christmas Eve morning, Daddy had to go into work, so Kaitlyn and I worked on her gingerbread house before we got ready to start the festivities.  When Daddy got home, we got Archie ready, Kaitlyn dressed and loaded all the goodies for everyone into the trunk of the car and headed to Nana and Papa's house.  We were met by Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Camaryn, Nana and Papa.  The girls were so excited to rip into their gifts.  Kaitlyn turned into a "greedy monster" and decided that she couldn't be bothered with looking at any of the clothes she got.  Instead, she would open the box, look inside say "Oh that's cute" and toss it to the side.  The first time was cute, the third, fourth times not so much :P  We were soon joined by Auntie Barbara and Uncle Dean and the girls opened their traditional Christmas Ornaments.  Kaitlyn loves getting her Barbie ones and makes them all stay together on the tree.

Soon after we were joined by "Pop" Mike, Auntie Stephanie, Uncle Craig, Hope and Beau for some more Christmas Eve fun.  We had a delicious dinner and then everyone got to dig into more gifts.  It was a late, fun night and I don't think anyone left without being spoiled.  When we got home, Kaitlyn was too exhausted to even think about putting out cookies for Santa, so it became my job.

While Santa worked on Kaitlyn's Christmas present, Mrs Clause worked on putting away all the Christmas Eve goodies.  By 8:30 on Christmas morning we had enough and went and woke up the sleeping princess to get her ready for her day of fun.  She went to the living room pleasently surprised that Santa not only brought her the wooden barbie house she wanted but also the my little ponies in it that she asked for.  She was even more surprised that Santa brought her dangly earrings in her stocking to start wearing.  She feels so grown up.  Then we started ripping paper off of the dozens and dozens of gifts under the tree.  Kaitlyn got just about everything she had asked for and the day wasn't over yet.  We made a yummy breakfast of bacon and chocolate covered cinamon twists and started to get ready.  We headed over to Auntie Christina and Auntie Sammie's house for Christmas festivities with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina, Uncle Brian, Auntie Sammie, Uncle Davey, Uncle Scotty and Auntie Jamie and found that everyone was ready to start opening gifts.  Kaitlyn had a pile taller than she was and for a minute I think she was overwhelmed!  But, she didn't let that stop her!  She was even more spoiled when Auntie Beth and Uncle Paul got there, more so when Great Grandma Mauda got there and even from her soon to be cousin Reid.  Kaitlyn was incredibly spoiled.  We had good food and good times, what could make for a better Christmas?

The day after Christmas we took Matthew's stocking of goodies from Santa to the cemetery.  We also cleaned up the house, took down all the decorations and put away all the loot.  Then, we relaxed :)

For Christmas this year, I really wanted to get Kaitlyn a puppy.  She hadn't asked for much and had been a pretty good girl and I thought Archie could use a buddy.  Daddy said "No way" and put his foot down.  The Sunday after Christmas we headed over to Nana and Papa's house since Uncle Calvin was visiting with Adrian and Nikki.  Before we got there, they had called to see if we wanted a puppy.  Uncle Calvin had brought one up that he couldn't keep and needed to find a home for it.  I suggested Kaitlyn and again Daddy said No Way!  When we got there, we told Kaitlyn that Uncle Calvin had a new puppy so she had to be careful.  She fell in love with the "little fella" as she puts it.  He was so tiny, a chihuhua pitbull mix weighing in at a pound.  Even Daddy fell in love and that night we brought home Chico, Archie's new friend.

For New Years Eve Kaitlyn was very excited to have Camaryn spend the night.  The girls had a blast baking cupcakes, making frosting, making bracelets, putting on make-up, watching movies, having "champagne" and pizza and ringing in the New Year together.  Kaitlyn fell asleep by 12:15 and Camaryn fell asleep as soon as Papa picked her up in the wee hours of the morning.  We spent New Years day relaxing at home before we went to Nana and Papa's house for dinner with Auntie Barbara, Uncle Dean, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Camaryn and the really nice neighbors across the street.  It was a good day.

That following Tuesday, Kaitlyn was not at all looking forward to returning back to school.  But, she did.  And she got right back in the swing of things, she excelled to a higher reading level at school!  She's up to the 300 page in Math and of course just as sweet as can be.  We've had a lot of fun so far this year with playdates with Kayla, Hope and Beau and Kaitlyn was so excited when we spent time at Hope and Beau's house on Friday.  She had a blast!  We've had a lot of relaxing time together, played a ton of board games (evidently, Mouse Trap never gets old) and been spending time with Chico.

We're really looking forward to all that the new year brings :)  We hope everyone had a joyous holiday!

I know it's been a while since an update, but I'm sure you can see from the pictures we've been busy!

Kaitlyn had her 5 year old check up this month!  She's growing like a weed!  She's 43 3/4" tall, so she's in the 75% for height.  Her weight is now 40 lbs and she's 50% there :)  She's our tall skinny little flower!  Her vision and hearing are perfect.  Health is great and she is far beyond where she needs to be developmentally.   The only bad news was the possibility that her headaches are migraines, so we have started keeping a journal for them :)

Kaitlyn is also doing great at school.  It looks like the reading just "clicked" and she really gets it.  There is no doubt that she'll be reading and comprehending at a 2nd grade level by the end of the year.  She sounds out EVERYTHING that she sees.  She likes to read all the signs we pass, and we cannot spell anything out around her.  She's also really excelling at math :)

Kaitlyn had a tea party with Girl Scouts this month that was so much fun.  She has a really great troop of girls surrounding her.  They learned all about manners and then enjoyed some apple juice and a ton of homemade goodies!  We also got all the information for Girl Scout Cookie sales that are starting SUPER soon.  And this year, you can order online and have them shipped to you, wink wink.  We did a gift exchange at Girl Scouts too that the girls had so much fun with.  Somehow, everyone randomly got the gift that was the most perfect for them.  Kaitlyn scored a new art set with a ton of paper, which has been the source of hours of entertainment.

Kaitlyn also had her first dance recital this month.  She performed two numbers, one tap and one jazz.  She loves jazz so much more than tap, but she was beautiful and cute in both!  Thank you so much to Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, papa, Auntie Christina, Auntie Sammie, Uncle Davey, Auntie Stephanie, Uncle Craig, Hope, Beau and Camaryn for coming out and watching her.  She has been so excited and so proud of everyone that came to support her and talking about it non-stop.  It really meant a lot to her that so many came to support her with something she has been working so hard on.

Kaitlyn has already been able to celebrate Christmas a few times this month.  She got to spend time with Baby cousin Lisa and exchange gifts.  She got a super cute of feetie jammies that she has excitedly worn at least 4 nights since Friday lol.  She also got her Christmas present from the moose lodge.  1000+ body tattoos.  Oh Joy, we can't wait for that one to get opened :P  And today we get to have lunch with Auntie Jamie and tomorrow with Miss Sarah, Kayla and Dylan.

We are all set for Christmas this year!  Presents are all wrapped, those that need to be shipped are, Christmas cards went out, and now we're gearing up to visit family and friends and to get a lot of holiday baking in.  Kaitlyn is so excited.  When we went to the mall yesterday she wrote a letter to Santa.  It said "I have been good.  I would like a barbie doll haouse.  I <3 U.  Kaitlyn Miller"  Not too bad considering she sounded out all the words by herself :)   Kaitlyn was asked yesterday what she wanted for Christmas and she said "A doll house" she was asked what else and her answer?  "Love"  We sure did luck out ;)

From our home to yours we wish you the Merriest Christmas imaginable and a super safe New Years to boot!
