Lainey has been really busy this year.  She started Pre-K last fall and has done really well.  She can write her name as well as all of the letters and numbers.  She is learning to read and loves books.  She has a best friend in her class named Cash.  She insists he is not her boyfriend, but just her friend!  She says the funniest stuff and keeps us laughing.

Lainey is a fashion diva.  She loves wearing jewelry, tons of jewelry.  She will wear 3 or 4 necklaces and bracelets at a time.  She will stand in front of the mirror for long periods of time, brushing and fixing her hair.  She loves clothes and shoes too.  Randall lets her pick out her clothes for each day, and I must say, she has good fashion sense!

She loves going to the OSU football games and is a true Poke Fan, and of course she can't stand the Sooners.  Many think this is something we have taught her but she really developed it on her own.

Lainey is wrapping up her season of T-ball.  She had a great time and played almost every position, but ended up playing mostly catcher.  She said she likes 1st base the best though.  She has already started to learn to pitch and always wants to practice.  We got her enrolled in Pre-K for next year, but she doesn't seem to excited about it.  She is mad b/c she won't get to ride the bus!  Lainey is so unique b/c she loves to wear dresses and skirts and "shiny" shoes but she also loves to get dirty and she thinks that there is no one tougher than her!  She keeps us laughing, that is for sure!

Lainey has been busy too!  She started playing T-ball, for sure this time.  She is playing on an all girl, (5 year olds) team.  So she is the youngest and smallest girl, but she can smack the ball!  She never quits smiling and thinks it's funny that her coach calls her "Too Tall Jones!"  She got her own bat bag, cleats, helmet, batting gloves and uniform and she is ready to go.  (Apparently this is a big deal for "the middle child" because they typically get the hand me downs!)  Lainey is doing good in preschool at Life Christian Academy.  She has learned to write her name and has an amazing memory.  She got an ITouch for Christmas and you wouldn't believe the games that she can play.  She will strart Pre-K in the fall, and is excited about going to the 'Big Kid School!"

We have just came back from a week's vacation at the lake.  It was a great time, filled with swimming, fishing, boating, and tubing.  Lainey had a blast and even tubed by herself.  She isn't scared of anything!  She didn't want to come home, and said she wished we lived at the lake!  She is looking forward to her birthday.  She loves to terrorize Cole and spank him on the bottom.  I swear he is going to be so mean because of her.  Her latest tale....she told me that Cinderella died last week, when I asked her how, she said, "she was shot!"  Some imagination.  She knows all the words to the chorus of "I'm a country boy, I drive a four wheel drive!"  Her newest song that she sings is "In Color" by Jamey Johnson.  It is hillarious to hear her sing.

Lainey is doing great.  She has finished the last day of school at LCA and is ready for summer fun to begin.  She is riding her bike all by herself now, and thinks she's ready to take the training wheels off!  Yeah Right!  She still loves to go frog hunting, but isn't so crazy about picking them up anymore.  She loves to terrorize her brother and throws little balls at him to listen to him scream.  He is going to have to be tough, just to live with Lainey.  She is a little jealous at times and says that Mommy spends too much time with Cole and not enough with her.  She loves to sing Jaidyn's softball cheers and has told Randall that she wants to play T-ball next year, and basketball.  She made me a hilarious mothers day card, that I'll have to keep forever.

Lainey started school at Life Christian this week and is really liking it.  She is in the Buckeroo class and has already made lots of friends.  She also started sleeping on the bottom bunk in Jaidyn's room, and has made it through the night all week long.  Our little girl really is growing up!  She also had her first trip to the dentist this month.  She did so good and didn't give the dentist any problems at all.  Her new favorite saying is when I do something that makes her happy she says, "You're a genius mom!"  Of course, I love it!

A new year has begun and Lainey hasn't slowed down.  She is busy learning new things, the alphabet and counting to 10 or more are behind her now, and she has been amazing us with her memorization skills.  She can sing all the words to Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and remembers the words to poems that Jaidyn is reciting.  She loves to dance and can dribble a basketball quite well too.  Ask her to sing you a song and she will let it fly, making up her own lyrics as she goes.  When we asked her what she was singing, we swore she said an old n*gger song, but it turns out she said, an old neighbor song.  Thank goodness!

Lainey is having a tough time right now.  She started school at Kindercare a few weeks ago and it didn't go so well.  She got sick after only a week and pleaded to not go back.  So Randall and I are so soft hearted and Lainey gets to stay with MeMa and Grandma again!  Lainey is thrilled for Christmas to be here.  She asks me almost every day, "Is it Christmas time?"  She loves to paint and draw right now, and she loves to read books too.  She is such a sweet little girl.  Lainey is quite spoiled though, as she wants her tummy tickled everynight.

As you can see Lainey was a Power Ranger for Halloween.  She really wanted to be the red one, so we couldn't say no!  She was so cute!  She also has been wearing her Poke clothes as she calls them, every Saturday, just like her Dad.  Lainey makes us smile ear to ear when she tells us, "You are the best mom/dad ever!"  It's the little things that count with her.  Lainey loves to read books and paint right now.  She tells me all the time that she wants to paint the sunset!  She went trick-or-treating with her best friend Jack.  They got a ton of candy and were worn out!

Well the days seem to fly by so quickly.  Lainey is busy being a wonderful big sister.  She has taken on such an independent role and can and demands to, dress herself, go to the bathroom by herself, and can climb on the kitchen counter with no help at all (which is rather un-nerving!)  She is quick to tell you when she is right (Told you so...!) She has been really good with Cole and loves him so much.  She is still a mommy and daddy's girl though and hasn't moved to her own bed.  She had a birthday bowling party and everyone had a lot of fun.  She got lots of dress up clothes and a Disney self bake oven that she just loves.

Lainey is getting really excited for her little brother Cole to get here.  She also tells us that she has a "big sister" in her tummy.  She is quite the character and keeps us laughing all of the time.  She refers to her and Jaidyn as the "Steven's kids" and even told some kids at the playground that they were the Stevens kids, and you don't mess with the Steven's kids.  Randall is so proud!  I don't think we will have to worry about Lainey sticking up for herself.

Lainey is growing up more and more each day.  She had a ball at Six Flags.  I think she will be a little dare devil, just like Jaidyn, because she rode everything she was big enough to ride.  She wasn't scared of the charactars either, as you can see in the pictures, she wanted to meet each one of them.  She amazes us with things that she says, such as "I don't want to talk about it." and "Okohoma is where the tigers and lions live".  She warms my heart by telling me, I love you Mommy, you are the best.  We still aren't sure how she will welcome our new baby boy.  Transitioning her to a new bed could be a real test.  I'm not sure who it will hurt more, her or Randall!

Wow, I am almost embarrassed to post a story since it has been so long.  We have had lots going on from moving to a new house, to expecting a new baby.  Lainey has accepted them both really well for the most part.  The first 2 days at the new house she would wake up and say, I want to go home!  But she has adjusted now and isn't afraid to go anywhere in the house, even when it is dark.  She is a smart little whip, and so loving.  After spanking her the other night she finally turned to me and hugged my neck and said, "But we're still best friends Mommy!"  It was enough to melt my heart!  Her latest phrase has been, "Oh dear."  I'm not sure were she picked that up, but it is so funny to hear her say it.

We had Lainey's 2nd birthday party this weekend.  She had a blast jumping on the moon bounce and opening presents.  If you asked her what she wanted for her birthday she would just say "Cake!"  Easy to please!  She is talking up a storm and will tell you that she is 2 and her name is Lainey Brooke Stevens!  She loves to clown around and calls people "Hey, beef turkey!"  Potty training is coming along, slowly but surely.  It won't be long before she is out of those pull ups for good!

We are half way through the summer, or what is supposed to be summer. All of this rain has really put a damper on our summer activities, ie the lake and the pool.  We just got back from sunny Las Vegas where it was 100+ degrees, so that was a nice change of scenery.  The girls had a blast at Circus Circus and at the Shark Tank pool inside the Golden Nugget.  Lainey speaks just about plain english now and talks better than some foreigers, says Randall.  She can finally tell me when her tummy hurts or whatever is ailing her, which is a relief.  She is such an observer though, and loves to sit back and take everything in.

I think the terrible twos are about to arrive!  Lainey, aka 'the boss', believes she is in charge.  She is so good when she is asleep though, and such a cuddler!  She is missing her 'sissy', while Jaidyn is at her mom's.  She has began calling to us by patting her leg, "come on Mommy, come on!"  It is so cute.  Her manners are still good though, she says sorry, sorry when she is trying to get by you.

Man, how the days fly by.  I can't believe Lainey will be 2 years old in a few months.  We have already figured out that we have a genious on our hands!  Lainey is talking in sentences now.  She loves to feed herself, and she plays well by herself too!  She has the best manners right now (I hope it lasts!) she will say 'cuse me' after she sneezes or coughs. It is so cute!  She loves to jump on the trampoline with Jaidyn and Kaitlyn, and has picked up a few habits from me...like saying "shoot" and "careful"!

The girls had a great Easter.  They had fun coloring eggs, making cookies and playing witht the fake Easter basket grass.  What a mess!  Lainey thinks that she is just as big as Jaidyn and wants to be just like her.  She tries to do Jaidyn's homework.  She loves to watch Animal Planet, even when the program is about snakes! She will watch in amazement and say Eww, over and over again!

It's been awhile since I have posted an update.  Lainey is growing up so fast.  She will tell you "Thank you" and "please" and she has even learned to call me Shawnda!  She loves to read books, and makes us read the same ones over and over.  She is learning to count and say her abc's.  She is also working on the potty training.  She pooped in the potty for the first time this weekend.  I was so excited!  She has quite the attitude though.  Randall and I are defiintely going to pay for our raising!

Lainey is growing up so much and has learned so many things.  She says all kinds of words now and she 'thinks' she can carry on a conversation with you.  She is very independent and stands up for herself.  She is sure to pinch or konk Jaidyn or cousin Nate on the head if they mess with her.  Lainey is still a daddy's girl, but we all still try to sway her.  She really loves to read books right now, and can even hold a pencil corrrectly.  We may have a genius on our hands!
