Stories 12 April '11 - The boys' had a tremendous birthday celebration this year. Birthday cake at school and another at home on their actual birthday. Presents from family (LOTS of gifts...thank you all!) Then their birthday party with friends at our new house. What a great turnout and fun time! My boys' our 7...and such great guys! Ashlee is now "not so" patiently waiting for her birthday turn. She has decided NOT to do a Dlamenco themed party and has instead decided on a "Tangled"-themed event. It's Spring Break around here and we're heading to Portugal for a few days of fun in the sun. We're all excited about it.
22 Dec - Has it really been this long since I last updated the kiddos website? It appears obvious that the answer is a big YES. So to recap on our first 4 months of living in Spain. Well, the boys' love their school and their 1st grade teacher Mrs. Kautz. Ashlee is going to part day pre-school and she loves her teacher, Mrs. Pastori and the school director, Mrs. Signe. There are only 4 children in her class so it makes for alot of special attention! We've done a bit of traveling, the Costa del Sol (Marbella, Malaga, Benedelama), Rhonda up in the mountains, white-washed towns in the hills like Olvera, visited the caves of Aracena, the beautiful town of Seville, and some other smaller cities in the province of Andalucia. Dad really likes being the First Sergeant here in Moron and the people are very nice. Mom even has a new part-time job while shlee is in school, she's a contract Publicist for the base. We are counting down the days until Christmas!! And wishing all of our friends and family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! But we'll also be celebrating some Spanish traditions like a few MORE gifts on January 6th for the "Three King's day!" And on New Year's we'll be eating grapes (if we're awake) for the Nochevieja, to bring good luck and happiness all year through! 31 Aug - Whoa! It's been a while and so very much has changed! Like we no longer live in America...we moved to Spain in early August. It is wonderful, very hot (dry heat) but "muy caliente"!! The boys', Brett & Gabriel started 1st grade yesterday on 30 August in a combined Kindergarten - 1st grade class with a whopping 10 students! Gabriel lost his first tooth (Sunday, 29 August) and got a nice visit from the Spanish tooth fairy who leaves money in Euros! We've moved into a lovely place in the town of Utrera and are awaiting the delivery of our household goods! The loaner furniture is a blessing but NOT the most comfortable in the world. Mom somehow managed to squeeze a birthday in there and turned the big 4-0!! :-) We've already started to do some sightseeing and traveling and this promises to be a wonderful assignment for the whole family. We attend church services on Sunday on base and with our presence the congregation grew by half! Rob's job is great and he likes everyone he's been meeting, as do the kids and Mom. New pics are posted and I'll add comments asap....
8 Mar - Mom & Dad celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary and the kiddos gave them a "Couple's Spa Package"...very good taste for such young ones! Thanks Dad for helping them pick it out!
Ashlee is doing fantastic with potty training...suffice to say she is diaper-free during the day! We are all so proud of our little princess! The boys' give her props for being such a good girl!
Brett & Gabriel continue to do very well in Kindergarten, it's hard to believe spring break is just around the corner! Unfortunately Mom is on spring-break now so our schedules don't exactly sync up! Dad recently won a weekend getaway to Orlando so we plan on taking the kids to the new Harry Potter adventure at Universal at the end of summer (it's not due to open until May). Should be a "magical" time!
22 Feb - Wow been a while since Mom has updated the site! The boys' are doing famously in Kindergarten! They are so proud they are starting to read and can count to 100 with ease. Brett's teacher says he has a natural aptitude for numbers and Gabriel is the "model of good behavior"! A mother is happy with that!! Ashlee is doing well with the potty training...we hope to have that done within the next few weeks. Goodbye diapers! Anyways, all else on the Lombardi homefront is wonderful and we just count our blessings everyday!
30 Nov - We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We've managed to get our home decorated for Christmas and map out our trip to New England and Kentucky for the fast-approaching holidays! To relax yesterday we all went to the pier for a lovely walk on the pier and then out along the beach. The kids played at the park and threw some football with Dad. It was quite an enjoyable rap up to our Thanksgiving holiday.
7 Nov - Dad took all three kiddos to a "Family Day" on base. The boys had fun trying out everything...Ashlee wouldn't let Daddy put her down the whole time!
15 Oct 09 - The First Lady came to Eglin AFB today for a visit, mom was lucky enough to get to go and hear her (Dad gave up his spot so she could go)....the event was held inside an Air Force hangar and it was much like a sauna with about 800+ people sweating and sweating! The First Lady pressed on through it and delivered a very personable message to the military and the folks who support them everyday....the "Military Family!" I'm really glad I got to go.
25 Aug - Disney World Pictures are posted...stories to follow...also look for the update on the "bus ride home" yesterday for the boys'! UGH?!? 24 Aug - I'll do a recap story of our trip to Disney World tonight when I try to upload some of the pics from our trip there last week. We were at Disney from 17 - 22 August and then today...BOOM!!!! The boys', Brett & Gabriel started Kindergarten....Dad did a great job capturing it on film, so Mom had better update the photos and get them posted for everyone! There were no tears....no hold-outs...everyone was great...well Ashlee tried to go to school too, but she 's got to wait, Mom isn't going to put her in Preschool until she is 3 and only for 3 days then. Or so that is the plan for now. I can't have all of the babies out of the house at the same time! Though a few of my neighbors had that happen and they looked really excited this morning!?!?! LOL 10 Aug - Yesterday was stormy over the ocean so we went a bit more inland to the bay and got a break on the wind and sand blowing everywhere. We found a great little place that was shallow way out so all the kiddos got play, play, play. We leave for our Disney trip in 7 days! Whohoo...It's a pirate themed- vacation. We're staying at a Disney resort with Pirate suite-themed rooms and the fist night we're eve going to a Pirate Dinner Adventure (think like Medieval Times but for Pirates!) Fun Fun! Mom will have her birthday on vacation and she wants to spend it at the Magic Kingdom! Maybe relive shome childhood memories with "It's a Small World!" LOL We are so shell-shocked that the boys' start school in 2 weeks! My babies...they are going to kindergarten! What happened?! Anyway, we are enjoying the last of our summer days and Mom starts back to school TONIGHT! Ugh....no rest for the wicked (I mean weary) LOL
16 Jul - Man the summer is flying by...we've still got lots of things planned with the BIGGIE being another trip to DisneyWorld in August before the boys' start Kindergarten. We had so much fun last time, but this time we are staying in one of the Disney Resorts. The Carribean...we've even got upgraded to the Pirate-themed suites. suffice to say Brett is really stoked about that. Some cute stories lately: 1) Ashlee was being quite pesky wwith Gabriel one mroning, ALOT, and I kept telling him to just ignore her. After a few more minutes and even more agitation from his baby sister Gabriel says, "She just won't leave me alone!" To which I reply, "Just IGNORE her!" Gabriel's response?? "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!" priceless really... 2) Potty training with Ashlee has begun but in a "non-threatening" take your time way. She's doing pretty well all together. She definetely understands the potty concept but sometimes she gets too caught up in play with her brothers and well accidents occur! Sure there is soooo much more to update but that's it for today...promise more updates on a more regular basis....
29 June - Such a very busy week we've had around the Lombardi homestead! Brett is riding his bike without training wheels (a little bit of hesitancy) but he is doing it! Ashlee well as you can tell she turned two and had a small family party on her actual birthday 25 June (shout to Auntie Sharon who shares the same birthday!). We had her Wonder Woman themed party on Saturday and my goodness the kids around the neighborhood are still talking about what a good time they had. Everything was geared for them...the activities...decorations...even the food menu was child-friendly! Alot of party planning but SO VERY VERY worth it. PLUS we had Granma Jesse here to lend a BIG helping hand and enjoy this wonderful occasion with us. Thank you!! Friends and neighborsw (much like family) helped out so it was a great time for everyone! It turned into a marathon party it last over 3 hours. We had activities like water gun aiming, shooting Superman silly String webs, flying SUperman on the trampoline, hide and go seek the hidden kryptonite and put it into the lead box, lasso (hula hoop) the Batman bop bag, and let's not forget the Pinata filled with soooo much candy! Snack time, lunchtime, cake and ice cream time, opening the presents...it was a great party! There even became an after party with the adults going next door to make lumpia while the guys played horsehoes until it got dark and they put some glow sticks on the stakes! It was a riot! All-in-all what a fabulous time! Now Mom is focusing back on school work and getting all geared up for our August trip to DisneyWorld before the boys' start Kindergarten....man on man the time is flying by....
25 June - HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY to our darling ASHLEE ROSE! Grandma Jesse made is here safely so let the weeklong party begin! Watch for picture updates...especially from her birthday party on Saturday...she's flying in as WONDER WOMAN! 8 June - Oh thank goodness there was a God's day of rest yesterday...from the Pirate festival! Tonight is the grand finale with the Pirate Parade. So yep we'll be there for that too! This was our first year to get involved/go and all and man did we do it up right! You can see from the addition of Day Two and Three pics we had a blast. Even ran into our neighbors who got us all backstage to meet Cowboy Troy...Mom's notoo familiar with his music but he was such a cordial person...not a drama bone to be found. The concert was great, the food fab, the kids did all the activities they could find, caught some more beads, met some pirates and Pirate princes and princesses....it has really been an enjoyable weekend for the whole family!! 5 June - Let the Pirate Days begin...ARGH!!! We are participating in everything this year for the annual "Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival". Gonna be a busy but OH SO FUN weekend. Will be posting a few pics of each days' activities. Keep checking for the little maties! 20 May 09 - Heavens me...where has the time gone? Today was the boys' last day of Pre-K...there was a lovely ceremony with songs and dances...a tear jerker slideshow (if the pictures of your little ones don't get you then the music always does!) Ashlee really enjoyed watching her brothers perform...all of the kids for that matter...she sang and danced with everybody! At one point when the slideshow ended she said (quite loud enough for all to hear..."Oh man!") The boys' were so very excited to be graduating and they are looking forward to summer vacation and Kindergarten in the fall. We are all so very proud of our "big" little guys!
14 May 09 - What a wonderful Mother's Day this year (and every year!) Mom went to the boys' school for a Mommy-n-me tea Party. She brought china cups & saucers and after our party we all danced together. These boys' have got some moves on the dance floor! The boys' made lots of really special keepsake things for Mom this year but one in particular must be shared. It was their repsonses to some fill in the blanks about Mom. So here goes, Brett & Gabe both answered her name is: Miss Autumn. Brett said she is 15 years old while Gabriel said she is 8 or 9 years old. They both agreed mom's favorite food is daddy's sauce. Brett said she lies to drink soda and Gabriel said soda. Gabriel said she likes to watch - boys stuff and girls stuff and Brett said Funniest Home Videos. "While I am at school...." Brett said she goes away and Gabriel said she goes home and does nothing. (LOL) My favorite thing she makes me is ...Brett said lunch and Gabe said noodles. "When we are together" Brett said we play at the playground and Gabriel said we go to a restaurant and bring it home. "She looks pretty when..." Brett said "she gets a dress on" and Gabriel said "she gets sauce on her face" And "I love my mom because" Gabriel said because she's in my family...Brett said because I like her. Oh I'll be keeping these FOREVER!! Suffice to say I did shed some tears of love, joy and wonder at my precious children. They are so very wonderful and I know how truly blessed I AM to be the lucky one they call Mom!
14 Apr - Updated pictures...more to come from the home visit from the Easter Bunny.
6 April - Spring Break has ended for the boys' and it's back to school. They thought that since they turned five they'd be going to Kindergarten now. They were indeed disheartened to learn that they have to finish the year out in Pre-K before they can go to Kindergarten and ride the bus with their friends from the neighborhood. However, once they got in class this morning they were back to their usual antics! Miss Ashlee seems to like having the whole house back to herself, but I'm sure when we pick the boys' up this afternoon she'll be VERY excited to see them! Pictures have been updated from a trip to the beach, Mom took the kids during the week. And Dad took them to a birthday party at the roller skating rink...suffice to say these guys did pretty good for NEVER having had on a pair of skates before. Plenty of time was spent falling and getting back up but Daddy assures that fun was had by all...even Ashlee tried for a bit!
