Guestbook Looks like you guys had a great winter break in Saskatoon. You know we have some pretty large hills out here in Alberta!! We even have hot tubs too!!! ;)-Rachelle Feb 29 2012 No big party for these grandparents. Never were much for New Year's Party's Just Big Bird and his wife all snugggled up in their nest by 10.00. Still haven't got over Xmas yet. Correen came back to undress the tree and take down most of the decorations. Still have the village in the window--it can wait till the middle of the month. I am really enjoying this larger screen for my computer--just have to get used to the new format Bell set up recently. I wish they would not do that---it was ok the way it was. We are all turkeyed out and today we had homemade meat pie. Dad likes that better than meat loaf. Just dropping by to say hello--I hope everyone got what they asked for from Santa. I received things I didn't even ask for--so I must have been good a few times last year. Moe told me all about the good pictures when she visited today--so I thought I should take a peek. Nannie and Poppa are busier than we used to be. ( just thought of that song--Busy doing nothing, working the whole day through--trying to find lots of things not to do. Busy going nowhere --having a wonderful time.--there's more--I forgot the rest--but it is appropriate at our age. Where the time goes--only God knows --just remember we are always thinking of you even when we don't open the webpage. You are always on our mind. ( another nice song) -Poppa and Nannie May 14 2011 Just when I was bragging about our nice weather and Poppa got going on the back deck---SNOW and cold today with much the same yesterday. Spring has not sprung, the grass has riss and the birdies have their jackets on again. If I were them I would stay down south till the end of May.Hope all is well on Calypso and that daddy is not draining his brain too much. If God intends it to be--it will be. I guarantee that!!! We are-----Looking forward to the spring and all of this snow disappearing. It\'s pretty --but so is summer. Hope Gummy Bear doesn\'t have too sore of a mouth and that he feels better soon. Needs some soft food--like homemade meat loaf. That along with mashed potatoes makes anyone feel better. March is marching in next week. Time is flying by. We are all getting homesick for Sedona---- the land of sun and fun. Next YEAR--J.C. Penney here we come. -mom of many---gramma of lots Feb 27 2011 I remember Poppa and I being in Moose Jaw for Christmas and the snow was blowing everywhere. I don't think it landed on the ground that year and asked if they had much snow--Yes, but it just blows all over the place was the answer--it usually doesn't stay. Looks like it all blew back this year and it piled high like ours. I love looking out the window at it--all piled on the fir trees like cotton batten. It is pretty isn't it??? Poppa has had a real busy winter plowing on the street and at the lot at work. Our neighbours just love hearing him drop the plow at 4.00 in the morning--I think at last count he has at least a dozen driveways that he visits. As for me--I just leave my Uplander in the garage--nice and warm and clean. Clean it is--as Poppa is always taking it for a bath. I think he might just wash the paint off it. LOL. We love our new (two year old) Uplander. We wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day-------You are always on our minds and in our HEARTS. Love always----xoxoxox -Poppa and Nannie Mercer-far far away in Brooklin Feb 12 2011 It's pretty darned cold in this neck of the woods today. BRRRRRRRRRRR Be sure to wear your hats and mittens boys. It just started to snow a few minutes ago and if this continues Poppa will have to get that plow attached again.------ Nannie brought some new doors home from the Thrift store quite some time ago and poppa put them in the garage on a shelf. Well, a light went on in Nannie's head on Sunday and she asked Poppa if those doors would fit in the laundry room.Well, you know the rest of the story------The outside of the cupboard was painted, the openings adjusted to fit the doors, and the new doors put on with new hinges YESTERDAY.Isn't he something? and aren't we all lucky???? I thank God every day for all He has given us. Glad to hear you all had great birthdays. It's been a month of birthdays--Aunt Lisa at the beginning of the month then Easton and Maguire and Uncle Willy followed by cousin Matthew and Aunt Kathleen and then big boy Kaleb. Next on the list of fun and adventure is Shell Out Night. Nannie bought a huge container (really huge) at the closing of the bazaar($5.00 as she never resists a bargain) of pumkins, gourds,wheat sheaves, corn etc etc and it all now adorns our front entrance along with those two pilgrim dolls. Never had anything as nice other than Jason and his friend, one in a coffin box (that opened and closed with scarey music) and the other sitting still on a chair like a scare crow at our front door, many moons ago. Frightened all the children but they loved it and wanted to see it back the next year. Memories--what would we do or be without those wonderful memories.??? First was our trip to Fort Lauderdale where we celebrated our Canadian Thanksgiving with Peter Davis and his family.(our first thanksgiving away from home ever). Just got over the jet lag from all those transfers at airport and got the news of the engagement and babies in the making. Didn't take our minds off three special boys out west and haven't forgot their birthdays. We celebrated with them in our garage party in August with their BD gifts and daddy saved their cards for the special day. Hope your birthdays were great Easton and Maguire--all our love to both of you and many, many happy wishes for our Kaleb tomorrow on his sixth birthday. WOW--he is going to be six. Our supplies consisted of a scribbler and a pencil and if you were well off a rubber. We carried them in a cloth bag our mother made and didn't have sore backs. It's a changed world. Text books were scarce and seldom taken home. Didn't loose the pencil very often as it couldn't be replaced until pay day. These poor children today with the heavy back pack--like luggage, it's heavy before it is packed. No need for a back pack as we walked home for lunch and walked back. I know you heard this sad story before--it was the way we were (Barbra sings that))--four miles a day in total. Could only stay for lunch if your mom was sick or having a baby. We did ok and didn't go hungry or without clothing. -as not too many others had anything different. It truly was a great time and until recently I still had a friend from my grade one class who went with me to Notre Dame high school and started in the bank the same day together.That was a looooooooong time ago. I am sure all the children today will be able to tell their olden day stories one day--and people will listen in awe. -The Gramma from the Olden Days Sep 06 2010 Hi Gang! Happy August the 1st!
