Feb. 11,2012 - After a week of thyrogen shots, blood work and a full body scan I finally got to hear those magical words, " Cancer Free". The feeling of joy, excitement and relief is priceless.
Nov. 5, 2011 - It has been a great fall. Ryan is doing really well in school, he received all A's except a B in math, not bad considering he is in AT math. Emily is loving preschool and is doing really well writing her letters and learning new songs. She can recite the Pledge of Allegiance now. I am doing great, my medication is at the right dosage and I don't have to do any more test until after the new year. In mid January early February I will have to go back on the LID diet for two weeks to have a full body scan to see if any cancer has returned. Lets pray it has NOT. Rob's work is slowing down for the season so he has been getting a little hunting time in. Febee is just a strange little puppy and full of energy. Rob and I are looking forward to getting away for a night for our 16th year anniversary since we didn't get the chance for our 15th because of everything that was going on last year.
Sept. 6, 2011 - Summer was wonderful but glad to be back in a routine. Ryan started 5th grade at CIS on Aug. 18th and Emily had her first day of preschool today. Emily loved school and is looking forward to going again on Thursday. Ryan likes school too. Thank goodness both kids like school.
April 22, 2011 - Kids are doing great. Baseball season has started as school is coming to a close for the year. Ryan is doing great academically in school. Emily is enjoying her tiny tots class she attends every week with mommy. She has also developed quite the little attitude that mommy has not been very happy with. Hopefully we will have a much warmer and a lot less wet May.
April 22, 2011: It has been a very long time since I update our web page. Since October a lot of things have happened. In November I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. On December 8, 2010 I had a total thyroidectomy and my lymph glands on the right side of my neck removed. On February 9,2011 I was given an RAI (radioactive iodine) treatment. Everything with the cancer is going well and hopefully doesn't return. My thyroid medication was increased slightly at last weeks doctors appointment, but I was feeling pretty close to normal so I don't think it was off to much. The doc does want to keep me slightly hyperthyroid to suppress any thyroid/cancer cell returning. As a result from my surgery I had some really bruised nerves which had caused winging of the scapula (shoulder blade). After many doctors visits to my primary care, orthopedic and then a neurologist I was told it would just take time for the nerves to heal. I did go to physical therapy today to be shown what exercises would strengthen the muscles. My shoulder blade is almost back to normal but the muscles are very week, so I have some homework from the PT. Doctor appointments have slowed down, yeah. Looking forward to baseball season and summer break.
